The Tushita Meditation Centre Library, nestled in the serene hills above McLeod Ganj in Dharamkot, Himachal Pradesh, is a treasure trove for those seeking to delve into Buddhist philosophy and practice. Housing approximately 4,000 books, the library’s extensive collection spans various subjects, including Mahayana, Vajrayana, Lam Rim, Theravada, Zen, and Chinese Buddhist traditions. It also encompasses texts on meditation, mind training (Lojong), prayer books, and materials that bridge Buddhism with science, psychology, and sociology. Additionally, the library offers resources on comparative religions, history, art, biographies, and Tibetan and Indian cultures.
Beyond books, the library provides a rich array of multimedia resources. Visitors can access teaching transcripts, sadhanas, and a growing collection of Dharma videos and DVDs, featuring teachings from esteemed figures like His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Yeshe, and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Approximately 250 audio recordings of teachings are also available, offering diverse perspectives on Buddhist teachings. The library operates with a user-friendly loan system, allowing patrons to borrow up to two items for a maximum of three weeks. A refundable deposit is required for each item, and a nominal weekly loan fee applies. This system ensures that resources remain accessible to all visitors.
